Flash-Vent Max Installation Instructions

Substrate Preparation

  1. All surfaces must be clean, dry, and smooth.
  2. Structural concrete should be cured a minimum of 7 days before installation.
  3. Air and surface temperatures are above 10ºF.

 Application Best Practice

  1. Cut Flash-Vent Max into manageable lengths.
  2. Remove the release liner.
  3. Apply membrane from the lowest point upward, butting horizontal edges (edges cannot overlap) over a splice material.
  4. Roll self-adhering membranes with a suitable hard roller to ensure the entire membrane is pressed firmly into the substrate.
  5. Apply an approved sealant to all termination edges, laps, cuts, and penetrations.
  6. Cover within 180 days of installation.

Storage

  1. When applying Flash-Vent Max in ambient temperatures below 40ºF, store at room temperature until use.

Limitations

  1. Do not apply the membrane to a substrate that has absorbed water.
  2. Do not overlap Flash-Vent Max. Butt joints together over a piece of MaxSeal overlapping at least 2" on both sides of the splice.
  3. The leading edge of the Flash-Vent Max drains the water, so it must reach the exterior. Do not cover over it or terminate it in the sealant or grout joints.
  4. Repairs of the membrane must use MaxSeal to cover the hole at least 6" in all directions from the edge of the hole and remove the drainage material from the area.
